Nicole Kurowski, 7, Gym Teacher, Tulpehocken High School, Reading PA

Gym Teacher Nicole Kurowski has been arrested on charges of institutional sexual assault.  She allegedly had sex with a student both on and off school property.  Police allegedy recovered lots and lots of photos and text messages between the two.

Rachel Farrell, 25, Language Arts teacher, Bangor Area High School, Bangor PA

Rachel Farrell has been arrested and charged with three counts of corruption of minors. Allegedly she had sex with a 17-year-old student on numerous occasions. Allegedly in secluded spots where they parked the car, a Walmart parking lot, and a Ramada Inn in Tannersville. Allegedly the teacher and teenager got to know each other through Facebook and text messaging. The district attorney said that the teacher is cooperating with the investigation and admitted to relationships with 4 students. Presently only 1 of the 4 teens has cooperated with the police.

Farrell was married in June 2010, and according to police affidavit had sex with the teen from Aug 2010 to Jan 2011. Whne the allegations came to light, she was placed on administrative leave and then resigned her teaching position in December 2011.

Christina Layser, 37, 6th grade math teacher, Reynolds Middle School, Lancaster PA

Christina Layser was charged with one count of Unlawful Contact with Minor, one count of Corruption of Minors, and three counts of Indecent Assault. A 13 year old student reported inappropriate conduct that had been occurring between him and a 36-year-old female teacher, to the School Resource Officer. Police investigated and found incidents occurring in the teacher's classroom between Oct 2011 and Dec 2011. The boy claims that Layser initiated the contact, and that she kissed him on the lips and mouth and touched his genitals and "did cause him to touch her genitals."

Obviously the police don't always release all the details of every case, but I wonder if this is a case of "he said she said".  Lots of cases involve things like phone calls, text messages, things can can be tracked, but I don't know about this case...

Symantha Hicks, 30, guidance counselor, Valley Forge Military Academy, Radnor PA

Symantha Hicks allegedly unbuckled a student's trousers and performed oral sex on him, while alone with the student in her office.  Allegedly she supplied students with alcohol too.

Gabrielle Marvelli, 38, teacher, William Allen High School, Allentown PA

Gabrielle Marvelli was jailed after she allegedly had a sex with a student on Memorial Day weekend, at the Econo Lodge on Downyflake Lane in south Allentown. The student was one week shy of his eighteenth birthday. Marvelli did not return to class on Tuesday after the holiday and is on paid administrative leave.

The district attorney said: ""The victim in this case was, at the time of the alleged incident, only one week away from reaching majority under the law. Had he reached his 18th birthday, this case could not have been brought. I have chosen to approve this charge because teachers must be held to a high standard and, stating the obvious, should not enlist their students to engage in sexual relations."

Update Aug 17 2011: Marvelli was formally arraigned on one charge of corruption of a minor. She pleaded not guilty. Allentown police say she had sex with the student around 3:20 a.m. May 28, at the Econo Lodge on Downyflake Lane. The senior prom was held later that day. Marvelli no longer works for the school district. Her next court date is a conference hearing scheduled for Sept. 28.

Marvelli's lawyer said that the student told her he was 18, and that the student is a "ladies' man" and was boasting to everyone that he "bedded" a teacher.

Gabrielle is married with one daughter.

Update Nov 30 2011: Marvelli admitted to the court that she spread her legs so that a penis less than half her age could enter her vagina. Under her plea deal, Marvelli's minimum sentence won't exceed nine months in jail, the maximum 5 years.

Update Dec 20 2011: Marvelli was sentenced to 9 months to 5 years in prison. Pretty stiff penalty for a pretty stiff crime.

Cheryl Bremble, 40, special education teacher, Upper Dublin High School, Fort Washington PA

Cheryl Bremble was arrested on charges of sexting a female student, providing her with a vibrator and encouraging her to use it. The student went to her father, in tears, and explained how the teacher had been sexting her. Allegedly the teacher told the student she was bisexual, and took the student on clothing shopping trips.

Update: Her next court date is Sept. 7 in Norristown.

Jennifer Sowa Smith, 29, Steel Valley High School, Munhall PA

Jennifer Sowa Smith is facing charges due to allegedly texting nude pictures of her breasts and vagina to at least five male students, two of whom were under 16. Smith allegedly told one teen she "wanted to perform oral sex on him after school in her class."  She also allegedly told one student that she "wanted to have sex with him over her desk in her classroom". She allegedly asked another student to come over her house to have sex and drink together. Another student received nude pictures from Smith, and he stated that she would say, 'My husband is never home. I am so lonely and haven't had sex forever.'  The students circulated the nude pictures of the teacher amongst themselves, though she told them to delete them.

Her next court appearance is scheduled for late July.

Update Jan 5 2012:  Jennifer has pleaded guilty to sending four students graphic pictures of her naked breasts and vagina, before asking them round for sex. Jenny also asked one student to send her a picture of his penis, which he did. Smith received 5 years probation and lost her teaching license.

Kimberly Larkin, 39, teacher, Paradise School for Boys, Abbottstown Pennsylvania

Kimberly Larkin has been arrested for allegedly engaging in repeated sex with a 16-year-old male student. They allegedly did IT in many places, here SUV, her ex-husband's house, motels, parking lots, etc. Allegedly she gave the boy a cell phone so that they could set up their sex dates.

Update Feb 10 2012: This case appears to be headed for trial in April. A negotiated plea agreement could not be reached.

Update Apr 12 2012: The verdict is in. Both Not Guilty and Guilty. The jury found Larkin not guilty of felony sex assault, and guilty of corrupting a minor and furnishing alcohol to a minor (both misdemeanors). She admitted to having sex with the teen five times, all in July 2010, but said the relationship began after he was no longer her student.

Christy L. Smith, 32, English teacher, McCaskey High School, Lancaster PA

Christy Smith has been arrested on allegations of having a sexual relationship with a 15-year-old male student. Smith allegedly had sexual intercourse with the boy at least 10 times, police said in a criminal complaint. She also performed oral sex on him twice, and she had him perform oral sex on her on at least five occasions.

Smith is charged with three counts of statutory sexual assault, six counts of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, three counts of unlawful contact with a minor and three counts of corruption of minors.

Update Oct 28 2010: Reportedly, another charge is pending against Christy Smith. Smith was charged with one count of corruption of minors and will be arraigned at a later date. This new charge alleges a second victim, a minor who was not one of her students, nor did he attend McCaskey High School. Reportedly, Smith remains incarcerated at Lancaster County Prison.

Update Feb 4 2011: Smith has lost her teaching licence and is awaiting trial.

Update Jan 23 2012: Smith now faces more charges.  Appears that she took some pics of the boy she was with.  Did I read that right?  She has been in jail since Oct 8 2010?  A year and 3 months?  Nobody could/would bail her out?  WTF?

Ashley Herre-Bagwell, 29, English teacher, Monessen High School, Monessen PA

Ashley Herre-Bagwell has reportedly been arrested on allegations that she had sexual contact with at least three female students. She came to the attention of authorities after the mother of one of the alleged victims noticed the many phone calls and text messages from online records, and contacted the teacher before notifying school officials. Allegedly she told the girls that she was bisexual, and that she loved them.

Ashley is married but has no children.

Update Aug 26 2011: Ashley Herre-Bagwell pleaded guilty to indecently assaulting three female students, in exchange for a recommended sentence of seven years' probation that includes a year on house arrest.

Update Jan 8 2012: Ashley Herre-Bagwell was sentenced to seven years on probation, including one year on house arrest while connected to an electronic monitor.
