First lets start out with the fact that Australia has different laws than the USA, which prevents the naming of the teacher, the school or the location of the offences. But a teacher pleaded guilty to five sex offences between November 2010 and January 2011. The lesbian teacher had an 8 month sexual relationship with a female student. She pleaded guilty to four charges of sexual penetration of a child under 16 or 17 in her care, supervision or authority, and one count of committing an indecent act. She was sentenced to three years' jail, with eight months to be served immediately, and the remaining 28 months were suspended.

Evidently the teacher and student told each other they loved each other. They exchanged 100s of text messages, would meet in local parks, sleep in the teacher's car together, and even skipped school to be with each other. The students mother was pissed off though, due to here daughter's innocence being violated.

Melissa Mathis, 37, English teacher, Ripley High School, Ripley MS

Melissa Mathis teacher was arrested and charged with two counts of sexual battery by a person of authority. Someone made a complaint to school officials, who contacted police. The police investigation found evidence that she had sex with, and had been sexting pictures to a student. The student admitted everything to police. Two incidents happened within a week of each other. Everything above is alleged, sorry I forgot to say that.

Interesting fact I've never seen posted before in other cases: This cougar is listed as 5’8” and 145 lbs. According to this BMI calculator, that puts her BMI at 22, and her weight in the 21st percentile for her age and height. So 79% of women her age are fatter - not bad at all, I wish I could find some better pictures of her.

Update Jan 27 2012: Melissa Mathis waived an indictment and has pleaded guilty to one count of sexual battery. She was sentenced to one year house arrest and five years post release supervision. Damn they do things quickly there in Mississippi! I have never heard of a case settled so quickly! Some go on for 2 or 3 years...

Zenna Galeria, 23, teachers aide, American Falls High School, American Falls ID

Zenna Galeria has been officially charged with felony sexual battery. She has not been arrested because of her cooperation, officers said. She will be served a summons for her arraignment on August 15.

Galeria was fired after an investigation into her relationship with a 17 year old student. Allegedly the relationship started with text messaging and ended in shagging something physical.  The head volleyball coach/teacher's aide and the student have had an ongoing relationship for the last five months. The sheriff's office believes it started during the last half of the school year.

Evidently Zenna is married to a guy named Robbie.

Update Aug 15 2011: Galeria was in court for her arraignment, and is due back in court August 26th at 10 a.m.

Update Sept 9 2011: Zenna Galeria pleaded not guilty to the charges against her.

Update Nov 14 2011: Zenna has changed her plea to guilty, evidently in hopes of getting a lighter sentence.  She will be sentenced Jan 14 2012.

Update Jan 13 2012: Zenna was sentenced to 45 days in jail.

Kaci Pomerenke, 31, Social Studies teacher, Raymond Mays Middle School, Troy TX

Kaci Pomerenke was arrested for allegedly having sex with a 14-year-old student. The The affidavit says that she admitted to having sex with the student in her car three times during the month of January 2011. She submitted her resignation July 19 after talking with the superintendent

Update Aug 17 2011: Kaci has pleaded guilty to engaging in an improper relationship with a 14-year-old student. She will be sentenced on Sept 30.

Update Nov 10 2011: Kaci has been sentenced to 3 days in jail, plus seven years probation.

Mary Schnell, 24, substitute teacher, Aurora School District, Aurora OH

Mary Schnell was arrested Monday, accused of having a romantic, sexual relationship with a 16 year old student.

According to Portage County Sheriff David Doak, the 24 year old substitute teacher with the Aurora School District, was indicted on two counts of sexual battery, both of which are third degree felonies.

Schnell was caught by Streetsboro Police during surveillance of a hotel parking lot along State Route 14 and 303, near the Ohio Turnpike. They found the teacher and student in the car talking. Police also allege that Schnell and the student engaged in sexual activity in the parking lot of a bar in Mantua Township.

Schnell pleaded not guilty, and her jury trial is set for Oct 12.

Update Jan 26 2012: Schnell has pleaded guilty to having sexual contact with one of her male students in spring 2011. The jury trial was supposed to start next Tuesday, but is no longer necessary. The sentencing will be left up to the judge.

Colette Phelps, 28, teacher, Stratford Middle School, San Jose CA

Colette Phelps was arrested after being accused of sexually molesting one of her 14 year old students. It is believed that the relationship began approximately April 10 and continued until June 1. Ironically she listed 'fist pumping' as one of her favorite sports.

Her lawyer Steven Clark said she was 'deeply embarrassed' by the charges, and he said he would present evidence that Phelps had a medical issue that could have played a part in the alleged abuse.

Colette is married and has taught at the private middle school for 5 years.

Update Nov 15 2011:  Colette Phelps pleaded no contest to the charges against her and was sentenced to 5 months in jail.

Jennifer Sowa Smith, 29, Steel Valley High School, Munhall PA

Jennifer Sowa Smith is facing charges due to allegedly texting nude pictures of her breasts and vagina to at least five male students, two of whom were under 16. Smith allegedly told one teen she "wanted to perform oral sex on him after school in her class."  She also allegedly told one student that she "wanted to have sex with him over her desk in her classroom". She allegedly asked another student to come over her house to have sex and drink together. Another student received nude pictures from Smith, and he stated that she would say, 'My husband is never home. I am so lonely and haven't had sex forever.'  The students circulated the nude pictures of the teacher amongst themselves, though she told them to delete them.

Her next court appearance is scheduled for late July.

Update Jan 5 2012:  Jennifer has pleaded guilty to sending four students graphic pictures of her naked breasts and vagina, before asking them round for sex. Jenny also asked one student to send her a picture of his penis, which he did. Smith received 5 years probation and lost her teaching license.

April Patzkowsky, 32, teachers aide, W.K. Kellogg Middle School, Battle Creek MI

April Patzkowsky has been charged with sexual assault involving a middle school student that she helped in class. She was picked up in Brownsville TX. It is unknown if she was attempting to flee the country or not.

Update Nov 9 2011: April Patzkowsky has been sentenced to 7 to 15 years in prison. She has lost her husband and child as a result of this crime.
Wow that is a long sentence!  Seems way too long to me...

Teri Decker, 40, Health teacher, Corning High School, Corning NY

Teri K. Decker has been charged after an investigation into inappropriate contact with a 16-year-old male student.

Allegedly the teacher and student were sexting constantly. They communicated by cell phone text messages at all hours of the day and night and engaged in sexual conversation by text. Teri encouraged the victim to hide the relationship from his mother. Police said that during this time period thousands of text messages, many of them sexual in nature, were exchanged.

Allegedly on Feb. 14 the teacher grabbed the boy by the hand, pushed him against a desk, and kissed him on the lips continuously for 10 minutes while in Room 800 of Corning East. Later that day, police said, Decker continually kissed, held and allowed the same boy to touch her buttocks for nearly 30 minutes in the same school room.

In 2006, Teri Decker was certified as a Rape Crisis Counselor/Advocate for
the Rape Crisis of the Southern Tier. Wow.

Update: Teri Decker will be sentenced July 26.

Update Sept 20 2011: Teri Decker was sentenced to 15 days in jail, with three years probation.

Barbara Jeanne Anderson, 37, Math teacher, Kentlake High School, Kent WA

Barbara Jeanne Anderson was arrested, allegedy due to a relationship she had with a student at her school. Allegedy the student told his uncle he was getting laid by a teacher. Allegedy the students mother found a crapload of text messages from the teacher, on her son's phone. Allegedy she tutored the student after school, and he said she was the best focking math teacher he ever had. Big surprise there, huh?

July 29 2011: Barbara Jeanne Anderson pleaded guilty to first-degree sexual misconduct with a minor for having sexual contact with a 17-year-old male student.

Update Sept 12 2011: Barbara Anderson was sentenced to eight months in jail.  Some more details of the case were revealed, such as: the boy was suicidal, the teacher took him under her wing, they exchanged over 800 text messages, she texted him her sex fantasies, they screwed in his car, the mom got suspicious / found the text messages, etc etc etc.

Deanna Marie Robert, 43, Science teacher, Tamassee-Salem Middle and High School, Salem SC

Deanna Marie Robert has been arrested and charge with “engaging child under 18 for sexual performance.” She is no longer a school district employee. Allegedly the offense took place with a boy she was tutoring after school.

Update Sept 26 2011: Deanna pleaded guilty to two counts of sexual battery with a student. She has been placed on house arrest for a year, with 5 years probation.

Courtney Bowles, 31, instructional coach, Mountain View High School, Fort Collins CO

31-year-old Courtney Bowles was arrested after police found her nude in a car on top of a student. Bowles is an "instructional coach" at Mountain View High School whose role was teaching teachers about keeping a professional distance with students. She was being held on $50,000 person recognizance bond.

In the arrest affidavit, officer Sharon Hopkins wrote, "As I approached the vehicle, I saw a fully naked male and a fully naked female in the second row of seats. The female was on top of the male and she quickly jumped off the male when she saw my flashlight shining into the vehicle."

Update Mar 29 2011: Courtney Bowles has pleaded guilty to one felony count of child abuse resulting in serious bodily injury. 3 other charges against her were dropped.

Update Mar 29 2011: Courtney Bowles was sentenced to 10 years of intensive supervised sex offender probation. In addition she must perform 80 hours of community service and register as a sex offender. Bowles will serve no jail time.
