Powell had resigned her position in late 2011. Her lawyer said she misses her two children. In court he said Powell is going through a divorce.
Update Feb 24 2012: Some details of the case have now been released. The student's mother found Christine's Victoria Secret panties and class ring under the boy's mattress, and made a complaint. Powell tutored the kid in middle school, then she transferred here job to the high school, where the kid was attending. Colleagues were concerned about the relationship. One teacher stopped by Powell's house in the summer, she answered the door in a bikini and the kid and a friend were swimming in her pool. Powell says they are in love, and were going to move out of state together once the kid turned 18.
