Belinda Ray, 40, English teacher, Cleveland High, Rio Rancho NM

Belinda Ray is charged with three counts of rape and three counts of selling or giving alcohol to a minor. Detectives say the victim is now an adult, but was a juvenile when the alleged incident happened.

The student was in Ray's AP English class. Allegedly in Dec 2007 they met in the auditorium, then went to a nearby neighborhood, consumed alcohol, and performed sex acts on each other. A second occurrence happened at Haynes Park, and a third at the student's home. Police say they have 47 e-mails and a statement from the 'victim', proving Ray was banging having sex with the student. Ray is also accused of furnishing her young victim with alcohol, marijuana and cocaine.

The student's ex-girlfriend contacted the police and reported the teacher.

Rio Rancho Public Schools officials say Ray resigned at the end of this past school year, but didn’t say if it had any connection to the alleged incident. Ray worked at Cleveland High from 2009 until this year. Before that, she spent 10 years at Rio Rancho High.
