Maryann Verdi was jailed for allegedly having sex with an underage student over a two year period.

This woman has had some problems in the past. She was previously arrested for abusing her husband and resisting arrest. Ok, yeah, that could happen to anyone. She got fired, but the school district gave her a second chance. Evidently she got fired from that job too, after cursing out other teachers, and spending her class time talking profanely about sex, drugs, alcohol, and her prior jail experiences.

Maryann Verdi says she was never given a chance at her second school.

April Wade was arrested for having sex with, and living with, a 17 year old student.

Brittany Larson, 27, Devereux Glenholme School, Washington CT

Married and pregnant,  Brittany Larson has been jailed after allegedly engaging in a sexual relationship with a 16-year-old student.

Devri Ann DePriest, 25, Band teacher, Rucker-Stewart Middle School, Gallatin TN

Devri Ann DePriest was jailed on charges that she had sex with a 16 year old student, at least 20 times between Sept 2010 and Nov 2010. The teen came clean to his mother about the relationship, and the mother went to police.  Police secretly taped phone conversations between DePriest and the student, and between DePriest and the student's mother. Evidently they got the goods on her.

Update Feb 19 2012: Devri DePriest was indicted by a grand jury.

Rebecca De La Garza, 26, Gym teacher, Thompson Intermediate school, Houston TX

Rebecca De La Garza has been arrested for having an 8 month lesbian sexual relationship with a 14 year old student. According to the arrest report, the sex acts involved "oral sex on each other and digital penetration of their female organs." The carpet munching allegedly occurred in the teacher's office and locker room storage room.

The teacher and student reportedly exchanged 22,437 text messages and 2,400 phone calls, during which they each proclaimed their love for each other.

The student's mother found out about the affair and reported it to police.

Jessica Pomerleau, 36, Special Education teacher, Massabesic High School, Waterboro ME

Jessica Pomerleau has been arrested for allegedly having sex with a 15-year-old former student and giving him marijuana. Allegedly the relationship happened at the end of last school year until summer. The student's mother reported the affair to police.

Update Nov 13 2011: The police have released some details of the evidence against Jessica Pomerleau. Allegedly she had 7 encounters with a 15 year old student over the summer. Most of the encounters took place in her car, but one took place in her husband's truck.

Update Dec 23 2011: Pomerleau appeared in court to face charges against her.

Natalie Gentry, 33, English teacher, LaRue County High School, Hodgenville KY

Natalie Gentry is being investigated by police say an investigation regarding a sexual relationship with a male student. Parents told WAVE 3 that Gentry has been off the job for a few weeks. The investigation is on going, and no arrest has been made.

In a somewhat related story, in the beginning of the 2010 school year, LaRue County High instituted a school-wide laptop program. And get this: "English teacher Natalie Gentry said one of her favorite features is an instant-messaging feature where students can ask her questions privately." Oh my gosh, I don't even know what to say to that...

Update Nov 17 2011: Police have turned over the results of their investigation to the prosecutor.  No decision has been made, whether or not charges will be filed.  Police believe that Natalie had sex with more than 1 male student.  The school district has fired her, and she has not appealed.

Update Jan 16 2012: Natalie Gentry has been arrested. The victim's mother has spoken to a newspaper. Allegedly the victim was one person who helped Natalie while her husband was overseas in the military, and she was taking care of an infant. He went to school where she taught, and he mowed her lawn and plowed her fields. Kentucky state police allege that she was involved with 2 students, age 17 and 18.

Update Feb 3 2012: Natalie Gentry has pleaded not guilty to the charges against her. She will be back in court Mar 12.
